City Government Administration
In the municipality of Copenhagen local government is run according to a committee system, a practice adoptede in most Danish municipalities. In Copenhagen the City Goverment consist of a finance committee and six standing committees, each with its own area of responsibility.
The city's supreme political authority is the City Council. It consist of 55 members, each elected for a four year period. Copenhagen City Council lays down the guidelines for the work performed by the various committees and administrations.
The City of Copenhagen is divided into seven administrations, each carrying out specfic functions for each committee. The seven adminstration are the Finance Administration, the Culture and Recreation Administration, the Education and Youth Administration, the Health Administration, the Family and Labour Market Administration, the Building and Construction Administration and the Energy, Water and Enviornment Administration.
